I am going on a 7 day cruise to Alaska. How much money do I need to take with me.

We don't drink alcohol. We might do a spa or one shore excursion. The meals and all are included in the price of course. We already have our trip payed for. I just want to know what kind of spending money we will need. Thanks.

Alaska is not expensive. The only thing you will need cash on the ship is for the casino. If you plan on buying souvenirs then buy them in port & save. In Ketchikan go to Salmon Mall at end of pier, many shops & great prices. In Juneau & Skagway go to Alaska T - Shirt & save. I have been there 23 times. I put $200. dollars on ship board account ( I do not drink either) and might spend $100. in casino (not very lucky) and acouple of hundred in ports. I usually have at least $1,000. in cash plus credit cards & come home with over $500. & rarely use the credit card. If you do the whale watching make sure that it is one that is guranteed. That way if you do not see a whale they return your money. Alot of people like the different train excursions. Whatever you decide a truly Amazing cruise.

**** You only need money when you are OFF THE SHIP So like $300--$500

Most cruises will have these small cards in which when you buy

*Food/Drinks

*Room Service

*Paying your Maid

*And other things..

All this will go on that card. When your cruise is finished all that money you spent will transfer to your Credit Card in which you will have to pay.

I usually don't bring much money at all, but I charge everything on my credit card . Usually when cruising, you set up an account with them and everything that you buy on the ship from alcohol to trinkets to shore excursions goes on this account. Now if you do not have a credit card, I don't know how this works, but I would bring about $500 to $1,000 per person. Have a great cruise. Alaska was my all time favorite cruise.
