As far as best price? Options? What port should you leave from? How long? What to do on stops in Juneau for example? Thanks in advance for your answers!
Voyages with similar itineraries on major cruise lines are all pretty much the same.
When you stop in ports like Juneau you'll see a Disney-esque Alaskan facade. You'll see gift shops selling trinkets and the same expensive jewelry stores at every port. In fact, that whole area of town literally closes down and gets boarded up during the 8 months of the year that the cruise ships don't come. Locals never go there because they don't need Alaska trinkets or overpriced jewelry. Most of the trinkets are made in China. When you buy souvenirs look for the "Made in Alaska" sticker.
The best thing you can do is get away from short walking distance of the cruise ship docks to see the real towns. The best way to do this is to sign up for as many excursions as you can afford. Like if you stop in Juneau go see the Mendenhall glacier. If you are physically able to, every town has at least one "walking tour" that will at least allow you to see something better than a gift shop. You can look these up on the internet.
